AGRIPUNICA: AN ITALIAN EXCELLENCE IN THE WORLD WINE SCENARIO   In 2002 the great oenologist Giacomo Tachis was the inspirer of the birth of Agripunica. He involved the Leaders of the Tenuta San Guido and Cantina Santadi wineries who immediately welcomed the idea with renewed passion, as they knew that the project would have given further prestige to the Italian wine production. Agripunica is located in Santadi, in the center of the Basso Sulcis, south-west Sardinia, and since the beginning it has had the objective of producing wines of high quality from Carignano grapes. Thanks to the invaluable contribution of Giacomo Tachis, the main proponent of the revival of the Italian wine in the world, two red wines were created: Barrua and Montessu. The Top wine of the Company is the award-winning Barrua, a blend between the grapes of Carignano, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Deep ruby red, it shows a complexity of smells, elegantly characterized by notes of spices, ripe red fruits and aromatic herbs. This wine goes well with red meats and aged cheeses. The quality of Agripunica’s wines is also in the other red Montessu, born from the blend of Carignano grapes with those of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot, a red that surprises and recalls Mediterranean essences; its unmistakable aroma and lively taste allows combinations with complex dishes and strong flavors. The intensity of the reds is accompanied by the elegance of Samas, a white wine that evokes the scents of the sea, thanks to the position of the vineyards of the Vermentino and Chardonnay grapes that compose it. Fresh, with a moderate alcohol percentage, thanks to its fruity minerality it is excellent both as aperitif and in combination with first courses and fish based dishes.
